BTW, there is an interesting documentary on Afghanistan's resistance to foreign empires (since around the 1830s, starting with the British.) Its on Netflix, I think its called "The Great Game". It definitely has bias in it, but it does give a good bit of insight into modern Afghan (aka, last 200 or so years). We are making the same mistake that the Soviets did, except we've now been there 8 years longer.
