I'm throwing this out there though I can imagine numerous copyright issues that might jeopardize this episode as Toho treats their nuclear powered reptile like goddamned Mickey Mouse. Regardless, I argue for the validity of this topic on the grounds that Godzilla is a cultural icon that has featured in over 30 films and other media for nearly 65 years. He's been a metaphor for everything from nuclear holocaust to environmentalism to genetic engineering and natural disaster. The films have ranged in tone from political allegory and Japanese sentiments about atomic weapons to campy/escapist entertainment. With such a rich and varied history, not to mention an anticipated new film coming out this summer, it might be time for the King of the Monsters to get DFF'd. Plus, selfishly, being the unabashed long time fan that I am of the series, I'd be interested in hearing the opinion of TJ, Paul, and TJ's brother on the matter of what the Japanese call "Kaiju Eiga" (Monster Movie).
