I thought the episode was pretty good... but George wanted me to tell you that he thought the episode was spot on! I'm not super close with him in hell, but, he's too busy cheifing jays with Nchietzsche to make his own patreon.

Because of this video, I just listened to his entire discography in 2 days while hiking the AT. It was more than worthwhile, and it made the miles fly by. Thanks guys!

I wanna start off by saying I haven't seen much of his stuff, but what clips I have seen weren't really funny to me. It was engaging and interesting material but it feels like a rally or a ted talk or something. Is there a place that I can watch his full specials? Surely the segmented way I've seen the content has an effect on the comedic rhythm and so I don't think I can give a full and honest appraisal of it. I feel like I can't do it justice.

Honestly, just because his earlier material is straight-laced or less profound, doesn’t make it inherently worse. I find his earlier stuff, including Wonderful Wino and Indian Sergeant just as entertaining as It’s Bad for Ya. And his early 80s work, especially the New Jersey album, is extremely funny.

Carlin had pretty bad luck with the "I kinda like it when a lot of people die" special, it was actually recorded in 2001 and unfortunately it was recorded just a day before the 9/11 attacks. Because of the name and the content he decided not to release it. He planned to re-use the title of the special in 2004 but then hurricane Katrina happened and it was discarded again. Then it was finally released in 2016.

Great ep. guys. Carlin is an excellent example of how even the greatest minds among us can fall victim to things like addiction and desire for fame and wealth in a ways that undermine who we truly are. He took a long time to find his stride and spent almost half his life searching for the path that led to his success, but more importantly to the realization of some greater potential within his character. As much as a person like George Carlin might only come once in a lifetime, he was also to some extent a normal guy with normal aspirations, normal flaws and normal insecurities. He wasn't perfect, but by the peak of his career he was unabashedly himself in a way that I believe may have genuinely given a voice to 8 generations or more. You guys did a great job covering his life story and capturing who he was and what he represented without holding back the flaws that made him as human as the rest of us. Very respectful homage to a legend whose powerful anti-authoritarian message has inspired millions.
