The only reason I knew about Looners before this episode was because of Bob's Burgers. There is an episode where it is revealed that Linda's father is turned on by balloons, I think it was specifically by the popping of a ballon. So I imagine there are other people who knew about it from that episode, unless they thought it was just some ridiculous cartoon thing and not inspired by a real world fetish.

Yeah, I think this vote thing needs to change slightly. Just let the audience narrow in on, let's say a top 5 or top 10 topics and then it's up to the discretion of the hosts to choose which of those top(picks )should be the topic. Sure these iDollators seem silly now, but I think 20 years from now I might be interested in one when they can move like a human, do chores around the house, and carry on a meaningful conversation. Of course, we need a giant leap in the technology for it to get past that uncanny valley. I couldn't see marrying one though, I would treat it like the object it is. Furthermore, if your brain perceives your experience as something real and yet it's entirely synthetic does that make the experience invalid? I would argue no; if it seems real, that's good enough.
