Yeah, that's not something he's ever explained before. He's obviously not pro-rape or anything, but he seems to have way less sympathy for rape and its victims as a whole than general people. For example, his video about Brock Turner wasn't about the tragedy of a proved rapist getting a slap on the wrist in a world where rape is usually hard to prove, but rather about how sadistic it is for people to push for harsher sentencing when our prison system is broken. Like yeah, in a perfect world our prison system wouldn't be broken, but that's missing the point entirely. In the world we actually live in, Turner should never been given a six month sentence just because he was a white, middle class college athlete. I'm not saying TJ is a bad guy or anything, just that his attitude towards rape is puzzling. I'm curious to know how he came to feel the way he does.

Have to say TJ was really off base in his thing about the rape shelter. He has never been very sympathetic to rape victims.

So called "screen based autism" is not actual autism. The latest research shows that autism is a definite abnormality in the brain. But the bad side effects of too much "screen time" are definitely real, especially to developing brains like children.

Actual fascinating discussion on the rape shelter situation. You both bring up good points, but I'm more inclined to agree with TJ because I hate the thought of a shelter turning away men who have been brutally raped or abused just because someone might feel uncomfortable around them.

Regarding the "organics" discussion @0:48, organic food is even worse about using pesticides, they're just "organic' approved pesticides. Not only that, because they're ideologically "organic" they're not as effective as conventional, while also not necessarily being more safe. So organic produce is hella laced with pesticides, has lower yields and isn't any healthier. Fuck that.

I totally agree with TJ that rape counselling should ideally be offered to everyone regardless of gender, but I think it kinda railroaded the conversation past the actual question of trans women's admittance to these shelters in current year. Paul's concern for the well being of cis women who are uncomfortable around men is valid, but it bugged me that line of thinking didn't consider the difference between an actual man and a trans woman's presence. If a subset of rape survivors find it traumatic being around men, it's only a subset of that subset that would consider trans women men and take issue with being in the same space as them. I don't think you should slap that uncomfortable woman in the face with trans acceptance pamphlets and tell her to get over it, but accommodating her shouldn't come at the expense of totally turning away or separating out from the general population all trans women.
