A bunch of my coworkers were talking about how smart and honest/consistent Ben Shapiro is (lol). They asked what I thought of him and before I could think I said "I think he's a fast-talking, intellectually dishonest, hypocritical charlatan who makes his shitty ideas look more palateable to young people by juxtaposing them with even more insane ideas from the other side and glossing over all the ways in which he and his viewerbase don't at all meet the "facts are more important than feelings" mentality they claim to ascribe to." I got the death stare from about 10 angry upright apes, and I've never felt more out of place. I brought up the isreal thing and LITERALLY was accused of anti-semitism. By a bunch of transphobic, islamophobic, probably racist and definitely sexist blue collar VERMONTERS. People who think this state is just a liberal wonderland, think again, we have a high population of aging folks and you better believe those fuckers are mostly all conservatives. Not to mention rural, blue collar life just seems to create uninformed idiots, and Vermont is nothing if not rural. I bet there are as many Trump supporters here as there are Democratic party supporters. Bernie doesn't count though, basically everybody loves him here. Getting money out of power is a bigger issue to most Vermonters than "BuT SoCiAliSm!". And legit everyone here smokes weed, that part is true af.
