Some of my waiting experiences: 1) Twin Peaks: The Return. 25 years of wait since the series was dropped on several crazy cliffhangers. Was it worth the wait? Not really. It was too Lynch even for me. 2) Golden Compass bombed when it came out in 2007. Had to wait 12 years for someone to try and do Philipp Pullman’s books justice. The HBO series His Dark Materials does an excellent job at that. Totally worth the wait. 3) Baldur’s Gate game series, had to wait from 2001 until 2016 for a new entry to be released. Unfortunately, it was pretty terrible and I’m pretending it doesn’t even exist.

After how much I loved the new Bladerunner, I also shit my pants when I heard he was doing Dune. I was one of the few kids who grew up watching the David Lynch version and loving the visuals. I cannot imagine a more perfect director to helm this than Villeneuve. If you guys haven't watched any of his older movies, I also highly recommend Prisoners and Enemy.

'Return of the Jedi' has always been my favorite of the Star Wars films. I waited in line for three days to get tickets to 'Phantom Menace'. We talked Star Wars all day, got in lightsaber duels, watched the trilogy on a projector brought by a radio station, watched a Ninjitsu school do demonstrations to attract members, and wrapped up one night by singing the Ewok song word for word. That was the last year before online ordering became the norm and I'm sad to know the new generation will never get to share that experience.

I’m very hyped for Dune. The only possible disappointment I’ve had surrounding it so far is that Rodger Deacons isn’t attached. I think he’d be ideal to have as a director of photography but hopefully we still get something epic.

Children of Dune on tv was a bit better. I am soft on both tv series because they are closer to the books. I don't want Jodorowsky's sentient planets or Lynch's Paul making it rain. I do love the look and casting of the Lynch movie, though.
