Great show. To classify "Candyman" as a slasher film is missing the point of what he actually is. Sure, there are slasher tropes present, but they are just window dressing. The Candyman himself is a tupla or thought-form. He was brought into existence by the combined fears and belief of the poor and disenfranchised people in Cabrini-Green, and only exists because of this (the shitty sequels retcon this). The actual backstory of him is either total bullshit, or mostly bullshit, but at one point it was strong enough to actually bring him into existence. But belief in him has been waning, and the film is about him trying to regain his power and continue his existence by killing and bringing back the belief in him.
