The debate on revolution between Paul and Vaush basically boils down to a “Fuck-it gamble” vs. a “Calculated gamble”. While a pragmatically calculated gamble is more likely to be successful it also is just as capable of blowing up in your face as the fuck-it gamble, despite being less likely to do so.

He'll be fine. I think it ended on good enough terms that he can't reasonably feel too upset. His arguments were pretty shitty and it made him look really bad at points, but at other points he came across very well. People can be wrong on one issue and still be valuable in other ways.

Same for me. I'm not a socialist but there are many interesting socialists/marxists/communists/anarchists if you want to listen to them. But you almost won't find them on YouTube. TBH the best marxist I've found is actually an middle aged professor in Paksitan. Problem is that he's doing his content mostly in Urdu and quite rarely in English.

I think revolutions are always outgunned. If you are not outgunned, then what are you revolting against? I don't worship the founding fathers, but for an example- the colonies were outgunned. I can imagine people at the time saying that there was no way to win against the British. In any case, I think the best way to get real change would be the mass strike/walkout that was mentioned. It would need some real organization. It would need some rich backers to keep everyone fed. It will probably never happen, but we can hope.

Well, Paul's wrong on this issue and it really shows in this debate. His arguments were way too feelings-based. Does anyone else find it odd that for someone with such a profound disrespect for electoral politics, Paul sure seems to ascribe a sacred quality to his vote? That whole bit about "apending my name" to a Biden vote made my eyes roll back into my skull. I love Paul, and I really hope he comes around on this issue. It'd also be nice to see him and Vaush talk about points that would be less contentious. Bring on that Highdeology energy.

Great Debate/Discussion. You get a lot more ideas and nuances when two opposing views from the same side (in this case Left) discuss things, as opposed to Left and Right bashing each other and all the arguments never delve deep into real substance. imo both sides of the debate have valid and moral reasons to their stances. Paul is afraid time is running out, and Vaush is afraid that a haphazard revolution will fail and further plunge us in shit. I don't think there is right and wrong answers here, as it's all based on predicting what is the likely outcome for each strategy, and both can fail or succeed, due to unforseen factors no matter how much we startegize. However I will slightly lean towards Vaush's position and add on top to it an accelerated pressure with no quarters IF Biden was successful in getting elected. The Half measures and least of 2 evils and incrementalism must end as soon as Biden steps into the oval office. When he sits on the chair, the Left must be like: Listen Motherfucker, we got you here despite being a piece of shit, now start enacting real reforms or the fires you saw in May/June 2020 will only look like child play.
