One thing people don’t talk about when it comes to bed bugs is the psychological impact it has on a person. I live in Montreal which has a notorious bed bug problem and I had an infestation in one of my old apartments. I had an exterminator come three times and it still didn’t kill them. I eventually just gave up on the place and left and to this day (four years later) I still have nightmares about it. I’ll sometimes jump up out of bed in the middle of the night and start frantically searching the bedsheets for bugs. I honestly feel traumatized by it. It’s so horrible I wouldn’t wish it on my worst fucking enemy.

I remember having fleas in our old house after we rescued a cat off the street. After we got him to the vet for a checkup and flea treatment I put double sided tape all over my knee high socks and walked around the room until they were all stuck to me and then I tossed those mother fuckers into the fire. It worked pretty well.

I did not even consider going to the rat temple when I was in Rajasthan. I know, so surprising. I did go to the Kalighat temple in Kolkata where they worship Kali. I almost tripped over the pile of beheaded baby goats that looked like 20 little Dinoaurs on the floor though.

As someone who has had to deal with bedbugs a few times in the past, the first segment of this episode makes me legit uncomfortable. Those motherfuckers are seriously traumatizing. It's been years since I've seen one but I still keep an eye open for them constantly, and any small dark spot in the bed causes instant anxiety.

I got bed bugs when I moved from WI to WA. You know what got rid of them? Glue traps under the feet of the bed. But of course that was after they came in and sprayed and cost and arm and a leg.
