When the first 3 seasons of Family Guy were new, I really enjoyed them. I don’t care as much about them now, but I don’t believe that Family Guy is the most important part of Seth McFarlane’s career. Instead, I’m extremely grateful of his work in the industry as the executive producer of Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey and Cosmos: Possible Worlds, the fascinating and emotional spiritual successors to the original Cosmos with Carl Sagan.

I was going to say it gives Alex Borstein a job better than any other show but then The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel exists and is a way better show even in spite of being made by the creator of Gilmore Girls.

I was around for the rise of family guy in the early 2000s and I find myself agreeing with you guys. I kinda see shows like family guy and the simpsons as there generations bugs bunny and mickey mouse. When I was a kid South Park, american dad, and futurama were top. Simpsons and family guy had mass appeal and they were easier to understand. Excluding some episodes from s1-s10 of simpsons and 1-5 of family guy.👍

My final verdict of Family Guy is that it's a mediocre show with some good episodes. i liked it a lot when I was a young teen and it was the first time I saw something that edgy on TV. But after discovering other more well-written adult shows, it felt kinda outmoded. There's just nothing Family Guy does that another show doesn't do better. It's not bad, just meh.

I haven’t revisited the show in years so I don’t know if it’s nostalgia goggles talking but as a kid I remember loving the first 3 seasons of Family Guy on adult swim and thinking it was the funniest show on tv. When Fox brought it back from cancellation I was ecstatic. Then I watched the premiere episode and hated it. It was a different show altogether and it seemed like the writers were trying to out do South Park with the edgy adult themed humor.
