In your guys next series on mental illness can you guys cover Borderline Personality Disorder (the other BPD) it’s part of what I’m diagnosed with and plenty of famous people have the disorder. It’d be interesting to see your take. It can present very similar to bipolar but the moods can cycle much fast, but also have a few additional symptoms like dissociation, the chameleon effect and an inappropriate attachment toward a ‘favorite person’. I would like to see what your view on this disorder are. There’s also no medication to treat my disorder- only to treat the symptoms, but therapy can help.

As someone with Bipolar II with rapid cycling... I dunno, this was kinda hard to watch. But for someone without religion(pretty hard Athiest), the religiosity morphs into intense self loathing and a need for perfection. And still, sometimes magical thinking creeps in and I feel like reality itself is fucking with me. I hate it. And even with medication it can hit me on occasion, especially under times of great stress.

I don't think Kanye is representative of all bipolar people by a long stretch but he does serve as a cautionary tale of what can happen when someone with BPD is flush with cash and surrounded by yes-men, and in a quite real way, I think that same spotlight is a big part of the problem in his case.

My dad's mania sent his 64-year-old ass on a trip to NYC thinking he was going to just play his shitty $150 keyboard on the street and it was going to get him discovered and lead to him playing a show with Elton John. When he predictably returned home having not made a single nickel, he was a depressed mess for weeks. So yeah, I can attest to this. Trying to be the caretaker of the emotional state of a bipolar person is hell on earth.

Doesn't happen often, but this was ass. Kanye West is a dipshit, that first album has a lot of contradictions and makes black people look like a bunch of miserable losers, Paul basically calling him an irl Bart Simpson, being the ass people wish they could get away with being, doesn't make him interesting. Made it 1 hour in, but yeah fuck this. He's just one of the better examples of overvalued people who really don't do shit of tangible benefit.

I haven't watched it yet, I have Bipolar 2 and I have extremely mixed feelings about Kanye being the public face of one of most defining aspects of my life. On one hand I don't want people to look at Kanye and think that how he acts and deals with his disorder is indicative of what bipolar people are like when in fact he's has a pretty harsh case, but I also recognize that his spotlight beings awareness that is desperately needed for a disorder that can be literally and figuratively be life destroying. Hopefully these guys did there research on this one.
