I've noticed Paul has a few conflicting opinions. In one breath he'll complain that there are too many people on the planet and we can't sustain our society, and then in the next breath he'll complain about how people who refuse to wear masks are going to cause a lot of people to die.

I think paul expects parents to be hovering over their childeren 24/7 to ensure they're not going to do anything potentially dangerous. Which is strange the way he talks about how carefree his own childhood was and how parents are to safe with their kids now. Maybe a little dumb kid isn't going to be thinking about the potential consequences of throwing what may seem like an innocuous toy as far as he can for fun and end up killing someone because kids don't have as great of a gage for that sort of thing as a 40 year fully intellectually and mentally developed adult.

I like relying on context clues and repitition of words to follow Clockwork. The language barrier keeps me at a distance, makes the world, its rules and events unknowable, making it a little bit creepier. The book has an opposite effect almost. It immerses the reader in Alex's mind. The writing has almost a brainwashing effect, you start thinking in Nadsat as you're reading, which I think is what Burgess was going for.
