Scientist think its respiratory system might have been helped by the movements of its wings I can’t remember exactly how but I believe the motion of the wings allowed for something similar to our diaphragm.

The reason that insect respiratory systems don't work beyond a certain size because of 'diffusion'. Diffusion only works less than a millimeter at best, so without a circulatory system capable of taking a centralized source of oxygen (ex. what the lungs in animals act as) to every tissue in the body using capillary blood vessels, diffusion would simply not work and the animal would die.

The Scutigera Cleopatra looked just like the house centipedes I see in my house and I am about as far away north as you can be from Mexico. Either that article's picture was wrong or their range has expanded. I have actually majored in Biology though and it looks like a 'Common House Centipede'. So I'm pretty sure whoever wrote the article got the wrong picture or they look very similar. Did some quick research and the 'Scutigera cleopatra' is the scientific name for house centipede. So I would infer that its range has spread all over America for making its non-scientific name 'Common House Centipede'
