I love Paul.

I’m an “essential worker” for Pepsi (bc getting America their daily supply of liquid diabetes is deemed essential by Congress) in CT, which has some podunk bumfuck parts to it. Paul’s rant was somehow able to encapsulate and put to tape the rage I feel every time I’m working and see some ignorant plague rat walking the down the store aisle, mask off, smiling at me like nothing’s wrong. I’m not allowed to say anything to them, or else I lose my job. It’s been a tough year, and every time I leave the house for work it feels like I’m putting myself and everyone in my household at risk, but thanks DFF for being a bright spot in a very dark year.

95% of the mask protesters I've dealt with at work are white men. They aren't even my biggest demographic but they are the most indignant over having to wear a mask. Their whole lives they have been able to go whereever they want and do whatever they want, without anyone stopping them. We have this one solution that is unevenly helpful and in some cases can be harmful, but we keep pushing for everyone to isolate at home thinking that's safest. Sometimes a different approach is needed. A strict mandate is probably not the way to go, but it is applied anyway to stop stupid people from being stupid. Too bad stupid people don't follow strict mandates.

Listening to Paul explain the plot of a movie he hasn't seen is painful. The tension of Legally Blonde is that she is supposed to be a dumb blonde, but she isn't. This is not a liar revealed story. Her boyfriend breaks up with her before he goes to law school because she isn't serious enough for him. She is proving everyone wrong by getting into Harvard and being at the top of her class in Law. The legal case is something she is part of because she is one of the best students. She wins the case because she knows about hair products and can catch someone in a lie on the stand.

You can blame the morons for fucking up the first lockdown. But here was the original deal: "We go hard ASAP, kill it in its crib. If we miss that boat, it goes endemic, we're fucked. We'll just have to take it on the chin." Well it's endemic, guys. We're in take-it-on-the-chin mode no matter what. Herd immunity is the last hope. (COVID19 vaccine probably works. Are we going to wait all 2021 for the COVID20 shot? Just so we can wait all 2022 for the COVID21 version? This strategy is endless.) You guys overlook lockdown deaths. The Alzheimer's/dementia patients evaporating mentally, without once weekly/daily visits. Every category of overdose death has leapt off the chart. You can expect some apartment complex fires, like the Bronx mid 70's, for insurance money. Suicide, domestic violence, bankruptcy, hoovervilles, etc. None a symptom of COVID. This is civic anaphylactic shock. Everybody should put a fucking mask on, not because COVID's that scary, rather because the lockdown is scary. But, ever go into the fridge looking for ketchup? You open the door, move the ketchup out of the way, and spend 5 minutes looking for the ketchup? Till you close the door, look again, and there it is, up front? The ketchup we've moved out of the way, for the past few months, is the fact that WE CAN STOP BEING LOCKED DOWN. Keep your mask on, stay 6 feet apart, shun old people, do what you want. But let humans leave their fucking homes. We've NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE. Do you understand? This has been one hypothesis in action: "With modern tech, can we pull off a GLOBAL lockdown?" The answer is no. Trial and fucking error. This is becoming concept creep. My dad was one of these deaths of despair. He died mid March. An oil industry employee, oil futures went negative. He had a heart attack. It was obvious to him that his future was over. There's no way he would have made it much longer anyway. He put himself under a sword of Damocles. The Lockdown victims are going to eventually outnumber the COVID victims. Their pain, far more varied and seemingly arbitrary, will connect with people. They have miscreant anti-maskers to blame. But only for the first half of this story; the one up till now. The rest of the blame will slowly start migrating to people like Paul, still hissing and recoiling at "plague rats." TL;DR Anti-maskers be dumb but Paul thinking that COVID19 is the Superflu from The Stand is contemptibly ignorant at this point. Lockdown has to end.

Also, Colorado Springs pigs last I saw in the local news was they weren't going to enforce mask laws. It's from July but still very telling of the pigs. I've heard no update to the policy. I have a neighbor that doesn't have internet or a TV and he said to me after I said how much the US sucks for the $600, "We can't compare ourselves to other countries.". So just putting that out there. What one person thinks that doesn't get their info from TV or the internet. I don't know if they listen to the radio either. Sure recent talks of $2,000 now. Might be the only nice thing Trump did, although I do realize a) it's not his money he's giving, and b) everything Trump does has a selfish angle to it.
