Part of the reason for the absurdity of the solution here is that our current right wing government gives barely a fuck about the state of the environment. We, like you, enjoy electing the biggest fuckwits among us.

I'll give some insight on the carp thing, for you guys. We (Australia) have some of the strictest biosecurity laws on the planet and for good reason. Australia was isolated from the rest of the world for hundreds of millions of years. Our native flora and fauna have very little competition. When Cane Toads were introduced they decimated the ecosystem. Same with cats feral dogs and a miraid of other creatures.
