Loot Boxes are starting to to be banned in other countries because not only do they prey on kids, it's also a for of gambling. Which is why what is considered to be gambling needs to be updated to include current things such as loot boxes/crates.

I dont like the "for the kids" arguement either but loot boxes and microtransactions in general fuck up games. It wasnt that long ago that most of the stuff you can buy in ingame shops or gamble on with lootboxes was a innate feature in games. Even worse are XP boosts sold as timesavers. They make you pay to not play the game and set up the progress in a way that you either have to play a game as a full time job to get anywhere or buy their bs. If you care about games you should hate lootboxes and any kind of microtransaction.

Paul defending loot boxes sounds horribly uninformed. What games have anti loot box settings for kids? Never seen one in my life. Good luck being a good parent while also hovering over your kid at all times to make sure they aren't tainted by unethical business practices. Then you also have to deal with your kid being bullied by the FOMO issue with a lot of kids game cultures now if you don't buy some stuff for them. So sure you could say no but now you're possibly ostracizing them from others if you refuse to buy none at all. It's not even remotely as simple as just don't buy them for your kid. Also they inherently makes games worse anyway on that principle fuck them.
