To add to what Vin said, there's a series available on Netflix called "Dorohedoro" that I would recommend (also coming from someone who rarely watches anime).
First time ever commenting. I've listened to you since the DP days. Really love all your content! So my husband has never liked anime. But there are certain ones that he actually does enjoy. Movies like Ninja Scroll and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, I think, are pretty accessible for a lot on non-anime watchers. Black Lagoon is also a great series. So is Hellsing Ultimate. My daughter is getting into anime now and she is honestly into the most annoying shit...pretty much exactly what you guys described and I've realized a lot of anime now is aimed at younger boys which ups the annoying factor. So look for the adult stuff if you can (avoid the hentai...or not).
