I think to call lovecraftian cosmic horror “demons” is selling it short. Demons are simple and easy to understand. Cosmic entities are beyond human comprehension and drive those who try to understand them insane. They are a reminder of how insignificant and meaningless humanity is in the infinite cosmic scheme of things. Demons are puny. A superstition. A figment of human imagination, the outer gods are all knowing and all powerful that are indifferent to concepts such as morality and humanity.
