The actual reason why israel was established is alot dumber than what you were thinking. In the late 19th century there was a zionist movement in europe to establish a homeland for the jews. During the first world war someone in the british government granted permission to the leader of one of these organizations(i forget what the name was) because he was under the impression that the jews were very very influential in the forces of capitalism and communism and that somehow by granting this land in palestine the jews would... help the war effort and stop the flow of bolshevism.
