PaulSalterEgo here. I've been a patron since DP ep like 50 or earlier and almost never chat. I don't pipe up unless it's to recommend banger contento. Hope Dune Awakening is good. As an ex game dev major more of that trailer was gameplay than people think, and if it looks graphically lacking that may be a good sign, implying a gameplay first approach to the design. Not that it looked to bad, but def not great looking graphic fidelity. Just hope it's not full of predatory cash grabby monetisation.

Frank Herbert was an irrational homophobe who dis-inherited his son for being gay. His spurious reasoning was that homosexuals do not contribute to the genetic pool. That all depends on how you structure your society; as a student of history he would have known this. Even by the logic of his own books, this is bullshit. Paul is Baron Harkonnen's grandson. I think his whole thing of making the Baron a homosexual pedophile was just an extension of his knee-jerk bigotry. Even though it flattens the Baron as a character, I think Denis was wise to leave that shit out. It would have just served as a huge distraction from the movies' main themes and (in 2024) just created something superfluous for people to be outraged about.
