Either the Mossberg Maverick 88 or the Mossberg 590 will be the best choice for a home defense shotgun. Academy is pretty straightforward with their gun sales, and lax in southern states. The Maverick 88 uses more synthetic parts which are known to break compared to the 590 that has excellent reliability and ammo capacity. Basically, if you're broke, the Maverick 88 is your option.
