marty, the return
🕑 Added 2021-03-13 02:37:40 +0000 UTCthis is something I've been working on recently. sometimes I like to revisit these old characters within my universe and reinvent them. I haven't touched marty here in so long. definitely been a good 5 years? if not more.
some of my older characters just don't stand the test of time I don't think, especially the content I made with them, when I was a younger, more naive, and less skilled artist. this guy was someone I only drew a handful of times too before shelving. I'm not even sure why? the muse just comes and goes for some characters, but at a certain point I wanted to get away from the whole "super cute" comics thing I used to do and unfortunately marty here was part of that.. a little bit. only once. but much like howie he can survive that transition with a little elbow grease.
marty is a young (mid-upper 20s) american marten with an incredible singing voice. he's very laid back and super easy to get along with, but maybe a bit introverted. still he loves to sing, and loves to produce covers of some of his favorite songs. probably has a youtube channel that really took off, dozens of videos of him singing live covers with his friends on instrumentals, jamming and having a good time.
I've been feelin this guy's vibe lately. listening to a lot of acoustic song covers which just kinda drives his energy I think. I'm glad a friend brought them up which jumpstarted this. at first I was hesitant to revisit but really glad I tried it out, it just felt right to me.
