I interned for a plastic surgeon and watched countless procedures! They even had me intubate people as a 17 year old with no sort of licensing at all - highly illegal.

Re-anaesthesia: this is also super common with lethal injection where there are no doctors involved so the people who order the drugs used in the cocktail are usually prison wardens. Investigations into drugs bought and actual administration often find that they're using the paralytics but not actually putting the people unconscious as they get given drugs that stop their hearts.

Alot of the groups who talk about the suffering of autistic people are also groups like autism speaks where they have a distorted and overly pessimistic view of autism. They don't really see us as whole people who's lives have possibilities. Obviously it's harder for the moaners on the deeper end of the autism spectrum but for people like me who are on the higher functioning end of the spectrum we still have the opportunity to find happiness in life in spite of some of the social problems we have
