WIPs: animation + alt sequence | General thoughts
🕑 Added 2024-07-20 23:37:58 +0000 UTCHello wonderful people, I have some progress to report :) Because my sketch style is so sloppy I feel the need to wait until I have one frame of an animation done before posting, and you see it before you. There are also some gifs/sketches in the newsletter folder. I will also work on a secondary project involving Sarah, I want to bring the story out in her relationship so I plan on adding some text detailing her thoughts in journal form. I plan to split my time 50/50 between this Sarah project and the comic with Nahal.
Effort post below, no need to read unless you like that sort of thing.

Some ideas: I've been thinking about the handle "Block08", what does it mean. I think a few things for style/content to make it unique:
1. Content: Topic of cute girls in the situations we all know and love. Original characters, avoid following the lastest anime/game girls. Medium to heavy themes. Focus on my own characters/stories, experience has taught me I'm not good at requests so I don't want to distract myself working on projects that are better done by other people.
2. Style: Animations/CG - A flat style, typically dark, heavy use of shadows, not overly detailed, should evoke the old 80s styles OAVs to an extent. Comic style - still a work in progress but I have some ideas.
3. Medium: A focus on animations, traditionally drawn (though digitally), this is the area I stand out as an artist. I should always be working on at least one animation project. CG "alt-sets" when appropriate, and aim to complete one ~30 page comic per year.
4. Story: Realistic personalities/scenarios, no pathetic dude, over experienced girl, mind control, etc. Exceptions possible if I ever make some fantasy theme story. I want to tie together the world of all the major girls into a coherent world.
5. Girl's perspective: I think this is maybe the biggest departure from what I have been doing. I want the girls to talk, and be the subject of the story rather than the object.
6. Marketing: I will plan on publishing the comic on dlsite/dmm/booth when its done. I will also try to make the censored animations easier to share on pixiv and watermark them. Idealy I'd like to take the channel from "a hobby I don't lose money on" to "a part time job I can pay some bills with".
Addendum: The question of AI sloppa. As I create a lot more sketches than finished work I feel this is something of a waste. So in the future I want to play around with this new computer I have to see if I can't create a unique style that "finishes" these sketches. I fully expect this project to fail but I will show any positive results here in a unique folder. I'm denfinately not going to make it the highlight of my channel, but I do want to experiment. I will limit any content to a seperate pixiv channel if by some miracle I succeed. Maybe I'll make a "Block12" or "Robot08" (haha) channel if it works out.

For sure a finish is always appreciated! Why not! AI is also meant to help artists, not using it indeed will slow you down, see it as a super photoshop making you able to do everything much faster, you could release longer animations in far less time.

Thanks, I'm about half way done with the coloring and shading, the linework is done so it should be a few more days to a week. I feel like I'm really improving on this one. (I have a second part where he pulls out but that's in very rough sketch stage) Thanks, yeah I need to just focus on my girls and make them shine. Thanks I think I might even make 2 internal dialogues where appropriate, one of the both guy/girl. Yeah, I feel like a lot of my ideas just languish in sketch forever, meanwhile I see these "ai" channels pumping out 10+ pages of stuff every day, most of it is still boring garbage but a few people have managed to make pretty high quality compositions lately, so I feel like maybe I can use my "style", mostly the animation style, and the sketches as a guide and get it to complete the sketches that would otherwise remain unfinished AND actually maintain a definable style, not the airbrushed crap look that most of them have.

Woooow that animation looks insanely hot man good job :D cannot wait to see the final ver. Nice to see a full project with Sarah, she's a true cutie.
