I'd really like to see how Kai's stats have progressed after dealing with all this mess. It's been too long since we've seen his gains, so it feels like his progress is stuck

Gabriel Medeiros

In the encounter with the mist sprites there was an array to suppress abilities. That array covered a fairly large area. What we saw in this chapter is likely similar, but smaller in area with a more powerful effect

Connor Hinrichs

Slight disagreement, I don't think the mana suppression brings them to baseline human, since Kai seems to have access to his full stats from race and profession upgrades, he just cannot augment his ability, which is pretty central to his combat style

Morog T Tiny

If there is a way to suppress others skills, then that is the key. Such a thing would be known or if not known would be desired by those in power.

Brandon Steele

I am leaning towards the mist is not natural, or at least it is significantly more dense. It is probably similar to the mist when he was fighting the fairies combined with some mind affects and magic suppression.

Mina She

Hadn’t thought of Niel but that could make sense. I was wondering why Hobbes didn’t try to save him too. Interesting observations.

George R

Thanks for the chapter

Simon Hoerder

Agree, the mist has a role to play. It's getting mentioned too much. Whether they use it as cover or part of the attack I don't know. But we learned a few important things now: Sounds like they can block someone's access to mana to the point where you're back to being a baseline human. They seem to use spatial magic or dissolve people into mist / thin air to abduct people but my bet is on spatial magic and Hobbes was able to intervene. Not enough to save Niel but enough to save Kai. And I wouldn't be surprised if they need to lower their victims to baseline human status in order to teleport them. Finally, Hobbes managed to hit one of them but there doesn't seem to be a convenient body lying around. Look for the injured person or the person calling in sick. Unless Niel is with the bad guys, Hobbes injured Niel and Niel escaped.

Thanks for the chaper!

what do you mean exactly, like do you think the kidnapees are hidden in the mist and no one can see them, or does someone use the mist to magically kidnap people, or make the mist have the ability to cancel skills? I can't remember if they know if limgrel was a misty village before the kidnappings or the cult is using the natural mist as a cover. the elderly seekers are probably in this scheme but are too dangerous and far to shake down for answers.

Brandon Steele

Its obvious it is the mist. It has been since the start of entering Limgrell.

I think them being useful and comic relief is the best. Hobbes brings both.

Mina She

Space mage? It would explain why people just disappear

Mina She

Thanks for the chapter. Hobbes to the rescue as usual. So far I absolutely love him, usually most progression novels struggle with writing familiars and they end up being just a comic element which sucks.

Stephen Pearson

Thanks for the chapter! :-)

Trevayne

Thanks for the chapter.

Brandon Findlay

Thanks for the chapter! I think you mean to use "hindsight" rather than "foresight" since thinking ahead is good but looking back and regretting not doing so is bad.
