Natural prodigy gives a bonus towards understanding and using mana herbs and his boon gifts of the earth has something about making it easier to use and understand mana treasures so his profession kinda helps with all the same stuff herbalism does.

A bit of a tangent. I wonder if they can enchant their own body? Either with tattoos or something like henna. It can be used to dedicate mana to improve their physical stats in an efficient way without having to focus on it. Increase their body's defenses. Or improve mana efficiency entering/leaving that part of the body. Similar to wands and chanting. Definitely some risks if done wrong.

I think that is his goal now. Once he gets strong enough for his goal something stronger comes around and threatens him or his faimily/friends. It's definitely a progression story. I don't think the MC will ever by "strong enough".

I think she’s a cool chick, doing what she’s been taught but she is focused on her own advancement. I don’t mean to say she’s using Kai, just that she’s building a bond and knows it will make her better. How she’s been raised. Throw some hormones in, but I don’t think it’s out of control.

I feel like split mind must be hitting a threshold decision. There’s a threshold at 50 then again at 75, with the strain from fighting and the constant use Kai has for it because of his over analysis I pretty much expect him to have hit 50 already. I hope there’s a chapter for when he tips over to alchemy - yellow. I also wonder if there’s a progression that allows him to drop herbalism due to an overlap with alchemy’s evolution and maybe nature magic. Ie. nature magic for extracting materials for herbalism and alchemy focused on natural poisons, concoctions.

Well it was pretty easy to see. Isadora is more aggressive in her pursuit than Val is towards Kai. Val is very sweet but Kai gets in his own way and for a lack of a better word has "friendzoned" Val. Isadora isnt really a friend yet, but she has been determined since she met Kai to get his attention.

I like that has some real flaws like underestimating himself, being stubborn and indecisive. It’s good to see it be consistent and makes him feel more like a real person.

Im really loving the fact that even the people who know rain is the stronger one find the early orange profession/middle yellow race grade top of his grade first year fighting on what even footing a great background reason for why kai is seen as this year's best catch. Isadora Forlow is either playing the long term gains game or we are getting the exotic foreigner at school trope but with the main with kai on the receiving end. Still fun and its not surprising that the mysterious backgrounded islander who came in out of nowhere half way through the year and took first place. He's a bored rich girls fantasy come true. To then find a real one who is potentially unattached and from others view points attractive while being able to fight like he can. Valela is going to be jealous and angry but im sure shes also going to know kai probably did this dinner date on a whim or by accident. Still its going to be fantastic. Flynn is going to be laughing him self silly and rain is going to have fun with it. Ya for Hobbs who will pop in steal some of kai's food and look at Isadora Forlow like a passing peasant before disappearing like the food gremlin he is.

Ok, if Kai gets through a one-on-one dinner with a girl and still does not see what the implication here is, I will have to conclude that his competence does not extend to socialization.

I am not really paying close attention to his color grades, but as one of the strongest in his age cohort at the academy, isn't he now where he always wanted to be when he started out back on the island: on an even playing field in terms of power with talented youth of a similar age from the continent? So from now on his long term goal should be to get close to powerhouse like Elija and Viyra (however her name is spelled, I can never remember) - or more importantly, to get strong enough to face these green praetors.

Kai needs to pay more attention to the words comin out of his mouth if he intends to be more social. Also probably needs to stop just ignoring everything to at least get the gist of what's going on.
