I think the reason why Sara is drawn to August is because she spent her whole life feeling like she never fit in anywhere, struggled in social situations and probably thinking that no one would ever want to give her any physical/romantic affection because she’s always been seen as the “girl with autism”. So when August kissed her the first time in season 1 she realised she wanted more of that and maybe she felt like the opportunity might never come again so I think she’s more in to the fact that someone’s into her than she’s into apAugust himself and she wants to take the chance to explore that side of herself even if it is with August because she doesn’t believe she’ll ever get the chance again.
