its very good to hear that this is the most uncomfortable episode because it truly was so hard to watch. I couldn't even properly explain the level of discomfort i felt. Like you said though, necessary episode to show the severity of mickeys situation but I definitely never wanna see anything like that again

Exactly, it breaks my heart every time, and I wish more people would acknowledge the trauma that Mickey went through. He had someone like Terry to deal with his whole life, and he didn't have a Fiona to protect him, if anything, he had to look out for Mandy.

This is, in my opinion, the most traumatizing episode of this show. This is the only episode of this show that I literally feel sick watching, knowing that the scene with Ian and Mickey and Mickey’s dad is coming. I do think though that it was important for Mickey’s story that they show that his fear of coming out is very justified. I do wish that the point could have been made in a less traumatic way because it’s heartbreaking watching the looks on Ian and Mickey’s faces during that scene.

Hands down 3×6 is noted as the hardest episode to watch of Shameless. While brilliantly performed and written and filmed it is horrible to watch. After the series wrapped cast members were asked what scenes they did that were the worst for them and Cam Monaghan (Ian) stated this episode and that scene in particular and Shanola Hampton (Veronica) also stated this episode with the threesome scene. So needless to say it is a brutal episode but a necessary one for the growth of these characters unfortunately. Safe to say I don't believe there is another episode that comes anywhere close to the level of uncomfortableness that you feel through this episode.
