Well we don't know that. Ice Dragons are mentioned in the books at least twice but I agree with you about the ice dragon won't work for the story

Well, Vhagar is Laena's and I believe Balerion should already be dead by the time Jon/Aemon is born if he's to be about same age as Laena and Rhaenyra... not to mention that he was bonded to Viserys I at the time of his death. I wonder how would Vermithor+Silverwing work tho...

yes i like this argument about Jon's name not being Aemon. Think about what the Rouge Prince would like to name his heir. Try to make Jon's characteristics the mixture of Jon's goodness and honour with Daemon's dashing, daring, and dangerous personality without his ambitions and hot temperament. One of the main desire of Jon's was to make Ned proud, to be viewed as honorable and not been labelled as just Ned Stark's basterd. You can twist this concept a little bit by making one of his main desire to make Daemon proud while trying to be honorable and not been labelled as the Rouge Prince come again.

I think that won't work and the reason why is because the ice dragon would feel out of place and there is no ice dragon in the books

I say give him Balerion the Black Dread. It is one of the few dragons that no one has given to Jon in these types of stories.

You should change his name. You already used Aemon in Prince and you used Jaeherys in Kissed by the Sun. Maybe not Aegon, but Aeron maybe? Or maybe another Valariyan name.
