Sad News - Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball, has passed away.
🕑 Added 2024-03-08 06:48:13 +0000 UTCToday, we have lost one of the Biggest Legends in Anime History. Someone the entire Anime Community loved and appreciated, even people who never watched Anime have heard of him.
Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball, Dr. Slump, passed away at the age of 68 on 1 March.
Dragon Ball Z was the first Anime I watched, and it introduced me to Anime. Itβs still one of my favorite. I still remember the days I used to try to turn into a Super Saiyan in the backyard.
May he Rest in Peace.

Dragon Ball Z was the very first anime that I ever watched in the 90s, and Dragon Quest was also one of my favorite game series due to Toriyama's role in it. It wasn't my first manga, but the anime did get me into the manga world in general. His unique style, his dedication, and the gift he gave the world, he was easily one of the major influences that brought the love for manga and anime to Western Civilization. He will be deeply missed. Everyone raise your hand to the sky to show your love.

I may have never gotten into Dragon Ball that much, but I was still interested in the series and indulged in it from time to time. Nevertheless, it's heartbreaking to not only see the creator of what is considered the godfather to shounen, but essentially pave the way for many different anime in general pass away too soon, especially when he still had other projects he was excited to work on. Repose En Paix, Akira Toriyama. You will never be forgotten and your legacy lives on in the hearts of many. My hearts goes out to his friends, family, and the many fans of his work. May you be happy in heaven, Akira Toriyama.

...If it weren't for Toriyama... I can 100% say that I likely would've have become the Anime Fan I am today. As a child, Dragon Ball Z & Dragon Ball Z Kai were the main benefactors that shaped my love for Anime. They're the reason I not only indulged in Manga... But Dragon Ball Z is what started my love for Fanfiction as well... And while Toriyama may be "Gone"... We all know this... #LegendsNeverDie Rest in Peace Toriyama... When our generation concludes, we all look forward to seeing you in "Other World".
