I could see Connie requesting permission from Eren to transfer to the MP or Garrisons after this mission. His mother's back and she's got no one left besides him, and joining 1 of those 2 he can be closer to her without long expeditions out alone. That or she works alongside Historia running the orphanage since she's used to a few kids running around. Gives her a purpose and stops he being alone.
