Sorry to say this - your .. slipping -- watch what you are writing! or proof read. you wrote in this order. (The sorting proceeded alphabetically. When "Lovegood, Luna" was called, When "Greengrass, Astoria" was called,) -In the sorting Astoria should have been first. Second : you are writing as if this is his 6-7th year in Hogwarts, (Just once, Harry thought wryly as he followed his fellow Slytherins toward the dungeons, I'd like a normal school year. Just once, Harry thought again, I'd like a normal school year.) --- Two different lines stating the same thing BUT he is in his second year. Is he also talking about his schooling in the normal world? I do like the story and it is interesting.

You really set things up for the year at Hogwarts. A mysterious malevolent magic that might have injected itself into Hogwarts very being, Harry's talisman success and Ministry continued sabotage, and if the Chamber will be opened in a different way of events. So exciting. I do wonder if the parseltongue commands on the Chamber basilisk can be overridden by the magical tongue Harry uses.
