[Status Report #2] Sicae - Episode 6 + Emergency Announcement

Hey, everyone!
Welp.... where do I even begin? This is a downer.
Just yesterday, a massive power outage covered many locations in our area's feeder. Our electric cooperative recently changed, and the reason for the outage was a 13-year-old transformer on our main feeder died, which the previous coop FAILED TO FCKIN REPLACE!
We still have no power even now, and they gave us an estimate of AT LEAST another 24 hours until they can find a temporary fix. Even then, our area is expected to have unstable power, and a rotation of power outages can still happen FOR TWO FCKIN WEEKS until they replace the broken transformer.
Yeah, our electricity service has been incompetent for years, and we had many outages every week. But this one has been the worst of them all. I can't work sustainably if dying due to the hot weather is not enough.
We are currently running on a backup generator, which I invested in just today, so I can at least continue writing somehow. Screw eating cup noodles for the rest of the month, I just want to work. But it's inefficient, and I can't risk working on the renders in this state. Nevertheless, I will still try my best to get something done.
With all that in mind, I want to inform everyone that development will be slow for a few weeks until they implement a permanent fix. Ah, I should stop ranting...

On the flip side, development progressed faster than expected, not until the power outage.

Again, I want to remind everyone that this update will not be as huge as we usually do in MBML. As we're building up things in the story and Sicae's storyline is vast and complicated compared to MBML, I only want to cover a few topics as we go on its early episodes. There's A LOT to tell, especially during the Gathering of the Forgotten Names(GOTFN) series, as I'd like to call it. So we'll take it slow as much as we can.
I want to discuss more, but we'll leave that for later once we have our power back and running.
To compensate a little for the slow development, here's a spoiler animation of someone you know. It's still alpha and might change during the update's finalization. Still, I hope you like it.
For now, I'd like to rest from all this stress and continue working tomorrow.

We placed it on our balcony which is an open area but has roof just enough to keep it safe from rain.

If you can, it would be safest to run it outside.

Is what I'm thinking too. I can't keep it running 24/7. Especially now that my lungs are weak.

So sorry, Nii, power problems are death in your industry. Just be careful with the generator, don't want you getting CO poisoning to keep your stuff running.

Sorry to hear about the issues, sounds similar to where I live. Old Norseman hit it on the head I was about to bring up Texas. lol With that snowstorm a couple of years ago and the hurricane this year it's been a mess for us so I feel you. lol

Yeah, I do have UPSs, and two of them: one for the monitor and one dedicated entirely to the CPU.

Sounds like you could really use a good Pure Sine Wave UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply), they will help with brownouts and blackouts and make sure you have at least a few minutes to save your work before your PC shuts off with the power down. A good Pure Sine Wave model will also stabilise and smooth out your power, making it better for the health and stability of your components and peripherals. Some good models can have extra battery modules you can connect so you can get an extra few minutes to hours, they can also sometimes connect over USB or serial so they will automatically safely shut down when the power goes off for more than a few seconds/minutes (User adjustable). They can be a real lifesaver if you live somewhere with crappy and inconsistent power, have to use a generator occasionally or want the peace of mind and security. I only have rudimentary knowledge about them so I highly recommend anyone with a PC to do their research and buy one if they can afford to do so. I consider a good UPS, secondary external file backup and tertiary off-site/online file backup as necessary parts of any PC build and they should be factored into the total cost.
