🕑 Added 2025-09-15 17:36:27 +0000 UTCLast week, I mentioned that I was wrapping up the river party and moving on to the following scenes, where Mordred can choose a RO/friend to spend a bit more time with before going to bed. I started off with Gawain's scene, and I'm almost finished with it - and that's where I'll cut off for September's update. I would have done more, but there's so much variation for each character, I know I won't have time to finish another in time.
I wanted to take a little time to discuss a subject that comes up in Gawain's scene, if he and Mordred are dating - that being the subject of sex. Nothing happens in this scene beyond asking each other whether it's something they'd like to try - but the possibility comes near the end of the chapter. The sex scene itself will be fade-to-black; what I'm interested in exploring here is Mordred's attitude and feelings towards sex.
Due to family history, Mordred may have certain hang-ups and anxieties over the matter. They may have negative associations with it, or think they're deceiving Gawain into sleeping with them because he doesn't know the full truth of your parentage, your nature as a dragonblood, or your prophecy. At the same time, Mordred may also just be excited and have more 'subdued' nerves along the lines of 'how will this feel?' and 'how do we do this?'
I also want to explore Mordred's feelings on sex for those of them on the ace spectrum.
And Gawain's not the only character with which sex will come up this chapter, either! It's also a possibility in a romance with Elaine and the Dragon Friend. With the former we'll see the same feelings being explored as with Gawain; with the Dragon Friend things are a bit different since the dynamic itself is unique, given their bond, and the fact that they are different species. There's no big secrets between the two of them.

Ahhh...no blushing and horribly uncomfortable Gally trying to escape from the topic he somehow stumbled into with Mordred? xD I feel like my Mordred would be worried because of the secrets he has. Like...what if during the moment, his scales popped up!? (which would make for a hilarious and awkward question to ask Arthur.) And he doesn't want to have secrets with his lover. Plus I feel my Mordred has a side of self-hatred stemming from being a inc and non-consensual baby. Even if Arthur tells him its not his fault, part of him feels...unlovable and worthless. In fact, I think that's my Mordred's underlying anxiety. That the world was right and he should have never been born. Hence he puts on a carefree smile, endures the abuse, and throws himself into the mindset of giving his life for Arthur and Camelot as a Knight. I also feel like eventually, my Mordred is going to have to contend with A) his developing crush for Galahad and B) The likelihood that Lancelot would kill him and/or never accept their relationship.
