Stijn Windig

Hey don, thanks for replying. There's no normal map node in the compositor though?

Miko Dela

You need to add a „normal map” node.

Stijn Windig

Thanks for the inspiration and knowledge Ian! Looking forward to another year of getting cool stuff in my inbox :) Quick questio that I feel kinda dumb about: How do you render a proper normal render like the quilted pattern in Blender? The default blender normal output is just... weird?

Fu

Super excited

i love you my boy

Destrier

Saw the first picture of the instruments and immediately thought, "Wow, retro spaceship...! oh, yes, like that one..."

Brett Williams

I'll definitely need to try to do some photo scans of rocket engines at JSC next time I visit my folks in Houston!

Jan van den Hemel

Thanks for all the inspiring content, Ian. I wish you a happy, healthy and creative 2022!

Manuel Grewer

That F1 engine ... oops, I am drooling. Fantastic stuff. The photoscanned cockpit elements look phantastic. I know there is probably still geometry all over the place, if you look close, but these screenshots are already amazing. There is so much character in these old bits and bobs. Happy new year Ian!

Ian Hubert

Yeah!! I’m about to have bunch of new footage to work with, I’m excited to make a bunch of new breakdowns

Ian Hubert

Same!!! I really want to figure out how to clean it up. I might just upload the raw footage if other folks want to give it a shot, too

Ian Hubert

I probably should! Right now I’m just jazzed to try to do as much compositing as possible right in the viewport

Ian Hubert

Oh cool!! I’ll check that out, thanks!

Chris Alldridge

A super exciting year ahead! Would you ever integrate Nuke into your workflow going forward?

Brett Williams

As a space nerd, seeing that F1 engine makes me smile!

Rafal Janicki

A lot of folks are using ring flash Godox Witstro AR400 for objects and materials scanning.

JerBearT

Out of all of this, I’m most excited for you getting help with your taxes. You deserve that and more.

Paul Richmond

Hope you have a great 2022, Ian. Great to hear that things are lining up for your production. Have a good one.

Lukas Sprehn

So excited about the main/original series episode! I can’t wait!!!

cdilla

Why I will stay subscribed: I learn something every time you post I get inspired to try stuff whenever you post Your posts are just so damn entertaining :-) I'm torn between hoping you get the success you deserve and no longer need Patreon funding as quickly as possible, and hoping I can retain access you your knowledge/enthusiasm/skill here on Patreon for as long as possible. Success and happiness in 2022!

Jack_Wolfe

This stuff blows me AWAY! With Unreals new nanite system this stuff is going to be more and more useful now! Good scans are also so hard to find, and yours are always such amazing quality! I cant wait to kitbash some amazing machines!

Nate Pantumsinchai

Yeahh!! This is so exciting!! Can't wait to see everything you do next!!

Poor you. 🤣 That's why: 1. Get excited 2. Film everything 3. Meet that stupid Blender composer... 4. Flip the table, start making videos with Adobe Premiere... 😭(Poor us, in this case)

Evan Barron

You're telling me we're gonna be getting more ORIGINAL Dynamo, on top of more Dynamo Dream?!?! I feel like a kid on Christmas morning

Mario Taylor

Great news and I'm excited to follow your progress 2022! Happy new year! 😊

Zachary Macintyre

Much love Ian! Can't wait to see what you get up to. For what it's worth, a lot of "original Dynamo" is pretty context-light but I feel it adds to the charm, in that it doesn't explain itself and you can connect pieces if you want to. If the finished stuff turns out not to be salvageable, could you do something like the DJ playlist framing device for the episodes and release the contextless chunks as standalone scenes or a compilation or something?

Shawn Hawkinson

Oh man! I hope you do another ‘making a shot’ series. I loved those videos. I go back and watch them from time to time. Good luck with your shoots Ian!

Mack Lawrence

Love it!!! You have my support in 2022 :)

LukeTheNerd

I love the idea of turning those disparate scenes into a short film collection called “The World of Dynamo” that could be used as little teasers/appetizers in between episodes.

Maikeru

Wow! Please, i would love to see the video on how to kit-bashed making all those assets

Zeke Faust

There's nothing like a properly planned shoot at a real location. Those battleship shots are so tactile, love it. Salad Mug was already a great accomplishment for being mostly green screen comps, but these future eps will be next level. p.s. I hope we get to see an appearance by mr. Gage Mann :P Happy new year to you and kaitlin, looking forward to all the great things coming up in 2022.

aviphyr

happy new year everyone!

I'm just gonna mention that probably all I'll do in 2022 3D wise will be packed in a folder named "sempai pls notice me" and sent to you later in the year, this all i dream of actually :)

Love your work, your ingenuity and your passion for the art. Keep going Ian, you’re a massive inspiration…

Luka Hrgovic

Ha! Its already 2022 here in Cro!!! All the best in NY and wish you all the luck with new episodes!!! Keep rockiiiinnnn man

Happy new year Ian! I love everything you do and Thank u so much for getting me into this CG thing, I hope you have a great year full of blessings and happiness. can't wait to see what more I can learn from you.

Ian Hubert

Oh yeah??? Cool! I'm curious how that turned out!! Yeah I'd thought until recently that moving the light source would totally mess up the scan, and it's a pretty big game changer that it doesn't really!

Happy new year Ian! Thanks for all your knowledge, i’ve been so grateful to learn from you, and i’ve been using your methods and how you approach design to land both my first and now second job! Cheers!

Best wishes Ian.

iain

Happy new year Ian. Thanks for the continued inspiration...

We love you Ian. You’re doing gods work my friend🖤

Dr sponge

Wren at corridors recently made a cool little rig with lights all around it for scanning and they scanned underground caves. Sick cockpit and shit sick life gahblez

Carson Reader

Nice! Is that the Saturn V’s F1 engine I see as a photoscan? How’d you get to scan that?

Arturo J. Real

Happy New Year!

Greg Beaudry

Cannot wait bro!👍🏻
