Yup, yup, yup and yup. Especially the deodorant part. I think using it becomes a symbol of being A) a man and B) an adult. So it becomes a game of one-up-manship to be manlier and more grown up than the others until the locker room smells like a toxic waste ground. At some point they learn that dunking themself in a years worth of perfume at once is not a good idea if they want to seem mature to the ladies, at which point the air in the locker room becomes breathable again.

Urgh, sounds tough. I just asked my sisters' boyfriend about his locker room experiences and he said: - looooooots of deodorant - boys behave like a brainless mob - hitting each others back with bare hands as hard as you can - hitting each other with towels as hard as you can Girls are more on the mental pressure side, comparing each others bodies, disparaging glances etc.

I'd argue it's even worse. Adolescent boys responding to the vulnerability of being undressed along side their classmates with testosterone filled chest-beating and aggression. I'm SO glad I'm done with school.
