Yup. I often think that such things become clear while reading through a scene, but it's sometimes better to just drop the needed information right there so you get this out of the way.

Including "fall break" somewhere on the page is a very good idea, as it is not immediatly obvious that he's at home. We don't see people leave school for the break at the end of ch. 4 either.
