The Urge

Another fanfic thing Imagine Piet after thinking over his life decides he’d be happier if he ditched his perfect performance. But he doesn’t quite know what parts of him are and aren’t the real him, except for when he’s mean. So he starts by pulling out of his projects and sports and stuff, and then he starts spending his new free time with Lucas and his old friends, and buys a guitar and practices it between classes, and paints his nails not because he felt like doing it but because he’s trying to find out what it would even mean to not act perfect, so he’s doing whatever. He also arranges to stop being school rep. So they try and arrange for a new one and Piet decides to be kind of petty and suggest they go with Tim, because he thinks it will be funny to see his reaction to that. This is how Tim finds out that Piet is giving up School Rep. Tim asks why they’d want him over Piet, and they say he gets really good grades and that he’s even doing a better job on his part of the mentor project than Piet is. He’s shocked by that so he confronts Piet about that and Piet confirms that he did fake Tim’s involvement because it’s a group project, and made Tim’s parts of the assignment and made his better so he wouldn’t get in trouble for his disinterest in class. Meanwhile his nails are painted and he has let his hair grow out just to try it and he’s playing guitar when this happens. Tim is surprised, because he hadn’t seen Piet up close in a while after his change and he’s acting very different. Piet remarks that he kind of wishes Tim was the overachiever because then he could be lazy, since the mentor thing is dumb anyway. Tim decides that Piet shouldn’t have to be stuck with the whole thing and agrees to help him and Piet decides to let him, which Tim finds annoying since it’s their project but he shrugs that off. Piet feels like talking to him about his behavior again but decides that trying to help Tim right now is what “perfect Piet” would do. Tim asks why he’s so different and he says he wants to know who he is without school and stuff, so he’s trying out whatever he can. He asks Tim about the photos he took with Thea and Tim talks about that.
