Ok, most of your comment is answered in the next chapter, I just want to correct one thing: The "Protector of Mankind" thing Odin said was in relation to Thor, not himself. And thanks for the in-depth comment, it's actually surprising how much you got right from my amateur attempts at foreshadowing.

Zerak

So Odin was taking it easy on him, specially after that talk about the protection of mankind. If I had to guess I would say it was part evaluation, part training, and part testing. Odin’s existence is a contradiction, he is a protector of mankind, yet him descending will cause destruction to mankind. Answering the call (summon) means he descends and goes against his nature. And refusing the call means they could summon someone else and sacrifice the entire town. Which again against his nature. So from Odin’s perspective the best option would be to get summoned then return to the Nether World. I don’t know if he can return on his own or not. But allowing a Campione to kill him would give Humanity a stronger protector. Plus it could double as a ritual of sacrifice making his Runes/magic stronger in the long run since he is willingly harming himself and sacrificing a part of himself (authority), which would resonate with his legend, and at the very least help solidify his legend. Are you going to go with a single authority or multiple? Because I feel Runes would be the most likely (specially since it will resonate with Rune or similar thing from other worlds), but he can also get something else like a weapon (other than a wand, or maybe make his spear his wand). I assume he will make his wand from the parts of the familiars he killed. As for the spear, we don’t know if it will vanish when Odin is slayed or if it will stay as it is a physical object. I was holding off from reading this chapter since I had a feeling the fights would not be resolved in the singular chapter. And I was right. Should have resisted reading till after the next chapter came out.

Definetely not the familiars, they're way too boring and overdone.

Welp I thought of Thor too, glad it's Odin tho, kinda curious what authority hes gonna get, Runes? Wisdom? Gungnir? Just hoping it's not the wolves or ravens
