SKETCHBOOK TOUR // 2016-2017 sketchbook
🕑 Added 2020-04-29 13:18:57 +0000 UTCHey guys! Here’s my fourth sketchbook tour, filmed from my very own bedroom! Here’s a photo of the setup:

Just a fair warning, some of the sketches contain nudity so technically not safe for work. It’s nothing extreme, just some nude models / sketches here and there!
I reference a bunch of stuff in the video, which I’ll link here:
- J.A.W Cooper’s work, which was a huge inspiration to me around this time, and still is: http://www.jawcooper.com/ Her animal sketches especially had a big impact on my style: http://www.jawcooper.com/sketchbook
- Reference: I get a lot of reference images from the amazing Senshistock, which you can find here: https://www.deviantart.com/senshistock
- I talk about a video where I show my sketching process. You can find that here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/process-video-35323143
- I also mention some of the artwork I made for The Sketchbook of Loish, in a chapter called Departure. I posted the art from that earlier today, you can find that post here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/sketches-36529839
- I reference a sketchbook tour where I did some sketches of Aloy for Guerrilla Games. You can find that post here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/sketchbook-tour-33412561 Skip ahead to 29:30 minutes, where you will see me talking about those sketches!
Hope you enjoy this sketchbook tour and as always, let me know if you have any feedback!

it's such a beautiful movie! I will check it out. i always thought that rat study about addiction (where the rats were less prone to addiction if they had a thriving community around them) was one of hte most interesting things i've read.
Jessica Renken
I also grew up on the secret of NIMH even as a late 90s kid. Highly recommend looking into the rat study that inspired the movie- no matter what the researchers did in meeting social and physical needs, the rat society would eventually collapse. really is fascinating and I'm sure some internal social philosophical viewpoint can be made.

thank you! to me, she is really 'up there' with her skill level.
Lachlan McMahon
I think you were a bit too harsh on yourself with your comparisons between your animal art and JAW's. Hers is excellent, of course, but yours are too.

glad you enjoyed it! haha and i'm glad you recognized beyonce even though it wasn't a great likeness :')

At 8:07 I got Beyonce vibes before you said it was Beyonce. Haha! Also, yass senshistock! Also also, having a goal in my studies is a good idea. Lately I've been feeling all over the place. I think I need a sense of direction like you say. I'm glad I got to watch this. Thank you!

Courage of the heart is very rare/the Stone has a power when it's there. ♥ Absolutely love that movie. And all your sketches in general. If you ever get hard up for material, draw more rats!! 😂
Loish
thanks so much! i'm glad you liked it :) i have heard amazing things about the new westworld season so i guess i'll just have to check it out!

i think the moleskines are great because the paper is quite thick, ink doesn't really bleed through so you can just draw freely. i use generic mechanical pencils, as long as they can create nice dark lines i'm happy!
Danny Shiels
Really cool to see that, great insight, need to get back to sketching in a sketchbook, do you recommend any type of sketchbooks and pencils?
Ashley Cirimeli
Lovely and insightful as always! I think I’ll probably start incorporating those hard cast shadows in my sketches. I really like how you used them to create depth. The hairless cat breed is Sphynx :) Westworld season 3 is my favorite of all of them so far. I was similarly lost in season 2 and honestly don’t remember much of any of that whole season. But season 3 is blowing my mind. Maeve is so badass. Hope you pick it up again!
