I sleep a lot better if I make sure to work out before dinner. Then I get hungry, eat more, and pass out more easily. That + sometimes a melatonin gummy really does the trick for me. The trouble is staying consistent... I'm pretty bad about it during the winter months.

There's many internet videos on the topic, most of the "sleep hygiene" advice is good, but there's a few important things they sometimes miss... good sleep is made during the day, not in the hour before you lie down. Get up early as practical and immediately go outside for a short walk or something to get some natural sunlight into your sleepy eyes. Do enough during the day to leave your brain satisfied that you've worked hard, light exercise and basic housework will help. Avoid caffeine after sunset. If your sleep timing is disrupted, it'll take a couple of weeks for it to settle into a routine so be persistent. And stress will make it all harder so don't beat yourself up about it <3

a doctor once told me, 2 hours without any screen on, no phone no pc, nothing, relax, read a manga, then you'll have easier time sleeping

Working out, or being physically active during the day, really helps me. Even just getting out and walking might help a little. Also, screen time right before bed (even a phone) does not help. Try a paper book, paper manga, or an e-ink display (Kindle might be good but there are others?)

I take magnesium before bed to settle down. If it's your mind that is keeping you up you could try journaling to get the thoughts out of your head. If it's physical then maybe checking to see if you have sleep apnea would be helpful. I hope things get better for you dayo ๐

I'm so sorry to hear your having sleeping troubles, I also have been having a lot of nightmares recently which sucks really bad cause they feel so real, what I would recommend and I do this every night before sleep is to watch something positive or very funny, for me I watch one of your YouTube shorts cause you always bring a smile to my face and I also watch a Chiikawa episode with usagi in it cause usagi is so funny โค๏ธ๐

I like to put on boring monotone history documentaries.

What helps me is the awareness of Psycho-Somatic Stress. It means that your mind and your body are always influencing each other. It works both ways. If you are stressed, your heart beats faster - and if your heart beats faster, it causes you to feel stressed. But it also works the other way around. Calm breathing exercise may help. Slow heart - Less Stress. Many things are outside of your control, so it is all the more important to focus on the things you CAN control.

Normally what I do when this happens is change the time I go to bed. So if I normally sleep at 1am, I'll wait to go to sleep until 3am and that normally helps me sleep longer. I've also tried taking Magnesium supplements (make sure they're labelled for sleep, not day time use) before bed, that helped a lot with feeling more calm before falling asleep, so I didn't have such bad nightmares. I hope you find something that helps, being sleepless is terrible ;-;! ๐ซ

A couple of things you can do. 1. Limit screen time on the computer or phone an hour before bed. Reading a book with a cup of tea is a good choice. 2. If you aren't getting sunlight pick up a vitamin D(ayo!) supplement at the store. 3. Try listening to white noise or something pleasant while trying to fall asleep.

I have a sleep disorder so I always have issues going to sleep. A few things my sleep doctor had recommended is trying to do some meditation before the time I go to sleep. They have some phone apps for this as well, like the calm app. Try to go to bed around the same time each day so your body is used to it. Only use your bed when you want to sleep so it recognizes that when you lay down its to sleep. You can also try to do a light workout a hour or two before you go to sleep to see if it can tire you out a bit. I don't know if any of these will help you but I hope you can figure out a routine that helps you to fall asleep..

I don't have trouble going to sleep, my problem is that I have to wake up usually in 5-6 hours to go bathroom, then I'll have trouble going back to sleep. I don't know what to tell you about nightmares. I don't even remember my dreams, so I'm no good there. All the advice I can give is to get a heavy blanket, it'll keep you from moving around and waking yourself, and it'll keep you warm too. Good sleeps henya.

Figuring out where your sleep issues come from it very hard. Waking up from nightmares is usually a sign of untreated depression / stress / anxiety, which you've mentioned you have. If you don't feel like talking to a doctor about it, then I would recommend looking into things like meditation, yoga, or exercise.

If I know I'm not falling asleep, I'll get out of bed for 30-60 minutes and do something light to distract myself - reading, walking around, even playing a relaxing video game for a bit. I find that it can reset my brain for when I lay back down. I like to have a long (6+ hour) video playing lightly, it can help my thoughts from wandering too much. And if I wake up randomly, for some reason I find it comforting that it's still playing. Sleep compilations are good for this, I like game grumps ones lol I know how horrible sleep issues can be, wish I had more to give you. I really hope you're able to get some rest soon ๐

A good trick to help have a healthier sleep is to have 1 hour with no technology before going to sleep, this will relax your brain, eventually reducing it's load which will lead to achieve sleep faster, don't know if this helps with waking up every 1-2 hours, but I know it helps to conceal sleep faster than watching a video before sleeping (which will actually have the opposite effect). As others have said, meditating before sleep is good too, as well as taking a bath. I've also heard it's good to drop the room temperature to adjust your body into sleep mode, if that makes sense. Cannot help with the nightmares tho, they usually present themselves through your own mind based on your day to day experiences, you might need to sort something on your life, or give it some thought to address them. Hopefully things get better dayo!

I don't know how help, but sometimes I think in something feel comfortable, like something I play or see.

If you can sleep with headphones on, I'd recommend giving binaural beats a try. Just search for "binaural beats delta" and be sure to keep the volume low when listening.

When my pets passed away I had nightmares almost every night whenever i closes my eyes, what I did was listening to things while I sleep that could distract myself from dreaming weird things. It might not have been a good solution but it helped.

Thinking about things stops you from sleeping. So you need to find a way to put all of your attention on something that does not require any thinking. For me, I played pokemon on my gameboy. It took all of my attention but didn't require any thinking - so I fell right asleep! (The problem was sometimes I would waste ultra balls on pokemon I already had because I would be playing it while asleep...) Sorry you are having nightmares though! That really sucks...

Meditation before bed can calm the mind and clear your head. Melatonin is also known for making you dream a lot, which may or may not help with the nightmares, and isn't a prescription drug or anything.

โEdit for the above commentโ Speaking again about using a distraction to pass out, I use a form of meditation with a trick. You see I have a fan in my room, and it goes from side to side. If I can concentrate on the motion of that fan and match it to my breathing, eventually I'll push myself to pass out. You could use something similar, White noise machines are very popular these days and they make many models. I'm not sure what kind of medicine you're using, but I pretty much stick to only melatonin now for sleep. Oh! A nice bath or a hot shower would be nice to help you pass out.

One of the hardest things to do is to keep a consistent schedule, but I don't think that's your issue here. If you're finding that your mind is getting out of control, and it keeps wandering, you need to find something to keep it distracted until you pass out.

Having reoccurring nightmares and dreams often are because of stress, I used to work in a black company, working 15hours+ a day, and I would always having nightmares or dreaming about not having enough sleep and feeling sleepy IN my dream. But these kind of stress won't go away that easy, especially with what you are experiencing right now. Talking with a good friend about the issues you're facing is a great way to release some of the stress. One tip I learn from friend is to have a little bit of hot red wine or sake 30~60min before you go to sleep, and keep off your phone while in bed. Try not to depend too much on the meds, you'd grow resistance towards them, and they aren't that good for your health.

I can recommend watching a very boring video to fall asleep easier, and if you do some physical activity to tire yourself out it might help. Hood luck Henya

I usually have these nights when I'm VERY stressed. What helps me is going for a full-body workout, eating a good meal then shower before sleep
