Update - content next weekend, but please read
🕑 Added 2024-05-20 20:20:39 +0000 UTCHey all! Apologies for the delayed update, there will be a delivery this month! But everything I mentioned in the last update will be skipped for next delivery, because I ended up switching tracks the past month or so. If what I plan to deliver isn’t of interest to you, and this isn’t your first month supporting this page, then let me know and I’ll refund you. I’ll likely be delivering the content this coming weekend, so just send me a message before then.
I have gone back to the original DGA animation and remastered it, as you have no doubt seen from the cover picture here. It was a ton of work but I was inspired >.> Despite me making next to no new content, it is significantly longer than the original, and will have new audio made for it over the coming month(s). I set myself clear goals and boundaries when doing this:
No new content from scratch; everything has to have an existing base.
Each shot would be widescreen. The camera and animations would need to be modified and edited to properly frame the existing action.
Renamon would be animated in each shot. However her role would remain the point of reference, so the animation needed to remain simple.
I would include the animations for the ‘lost shots’ in the first animation. (there was a 5+ second patch of animation I never completed for the first animation, in between the cuts that currently happen at the 21 second mark. If you ever felt there was a step up in size there; there was.)
Have the animation play at the proper frame rate, and include the bookend frames. (most of the shots in the original animation were playing at 30fps instead of 24, because I didn’t know what I was doing until AFTER audio was made for it. The bookend frames were the first and last frames I had to cut in every single shot as the camera positions were making motion blur smear them, so every shot is a fraction of a second shorter than I intended)
Switch the Andre rig to the new one, mainly to lay the groundwork for a VR experience at a future date.
Remove the ‘cheats’ in between cuts. (i.e, DONT shrink Andre in between shots, keep Andre in more or less the same position, and keep the environment pieces such as the trees in the same spot from start to end.) Mainly to lay the groundwork for a VR experience at a future date.
MINOR improvements, or ‘coat of paint’ to the animations themselves (i.e, get those balls swinging), and replacing the shots that were already remade/improved in the early iteration of the remake.
Stitch them all together in the one scene that can play from beginning to end. Mainly to lay the groundwork for a VR experience at a future date.
The end result? Between adding the missing shots, playing the animation at the right speed and adding back the bookend frames, as well as retiming some of the later shots to make Andre feel heavier, (and stitching in two extra shots because I can’t help myself), the first animation has increased its length from 42 seconds, to 94 seconds. Andre is also MUCH bigger. And… how do I put this, a wee bit friskier.
I am pretty happy with where it ended up… it's certainly familiar, but there is enough there that it’s a surprisingly new experience. Hopefully you guys agree when you see it!
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about this!

Will you do the other parts as well?

You’re alive!!

We getting this WIP soon or beginning of May? Just want to know.
Draggy
No problem! I suppose if there's a lot of new material it wouldn't make sense to release old audio and then have big gaps in the sound. Can't wait to see (and hear) it either way!
Tumble
Your work is amazing and I'm down to wait as much as I need to but would you consider updating us monthly even if you have nothing to show? Maybe just life stuff too if you're comfortable with it, it's just nice to see if you are still alive LOL
Gusho
you can poke me anytime
Acheroth
yes, someone by the name of Smegasus made the audio for the original series, including his voice.
RA
This sounds great! Was there a previous release with voice work that i missed?
Acheroth
the release will yes! The WIP I will send this weekend will not though as its not made yet.
Ryuakira
Oh wow, well alright then! Guessing you’ll be mentioning who voices him when you post it? =3
Draggy
OH wow, I cannot wait to see this honestly! Will the initial release have any audio with it?
Acheroth
Thanks for your support, and taking the time to let me know that. I deeply appreciate it ^^
Acheroth
his voice will be new ^^
Ryuakira
While it is a shame there’s nothing new for the DGA remake, seeing a remaster of part 1 will still be cool to see! And yeah, inspiration can be quite the kick and get you working on stuff with some insane vigor! Can’t wait to see how part 1’s remaster will look! Also, will Andre still be voiced like in the original or have a new voice?
Paneophyte
I can't wait!
Giza White Mage
I can't wait to see this!

just part 1 for now. I'll ask Patreons if they want the same done for 2 at some point in the future. I am not sure if there is a case for remastering part 3 though as its already hitting the level.
Dustin Grimsley
I appreciate you clarifying. To be honest, the original is what made me follow you on FA back in the day. It took me a lot of time to get around to supporting you on Patreon but it's been worth it for the years I've been doing so. Keep doing what you love doing!
Acheroth
you will have to give me your verdict lol. BTW I have not forgotten about the scene sorry.
Acheroth
thanks man! Your support is greatly appreciated <3. I am never quite sure on how I am doing so such comments are always awesome to read ^^

sort of. I was concerned that there would be some confusion/redundancy initially, but came to the conclusion that it should not really be any worse than as it is now with the two versions. The remaster is not really intended to be something new, just replacing the original that now looks and plays incredibly dated. Whereas the remake is its own media. The two also have different tones and experiences; the remake is highly detailed and focuses on characters and interactions, exploring the fantasy. Its more a slow burn and focuses on the context of growth as well as the growth itself. Whereas the remaster is more visceral, the growth frantic and the only focus, delivering more instant gratification. The original part 1 was never truly going away anyway, as one day i will have a VR experience from it. The remake is impractical to impossible to try and convert that over, whereas the original was perfect for such an experience. So yeah, I get it might seem a bit odd, but I do think there is space for both versions to exist in their own right. We will see I guess.
KarmaKat
Awesome!
Sylvian
Oooh cool. Is it all three parts you previously made, or part 1?
GreenDerg99
When inspiration hits, you follow it, as simple as that hehe. Can't wait to see what you've been doing!
Gusho
oh, interesting, I'm curious to see, I remember the first animation, it didn't have much foot growth, I hope there can be more, hehe
Ron Ered
Oooh boy! Looking forward to this!
Alemis R'agnarr
Can't wait to see !

awesome!

Yippie! 🎆

I suppose I do have questions. Does this mean there are 2 versions of DGA, an original and a longer cut you'd been working on more recently? What's the difference in the concepts?
Gelty Drake
The most important thing here is that you have fun doing this and enjoying it to the fullest. Fans understand and will wait patiently (or not heheh) until this Master Piece is ready and *Chef kiss*. Best of luck with the project and also you!! Keep the amazing work man!!
