thanks for the kind words! you're correct, basically i am applying the concept of atmospheric perspective (foreground more high contrast and detailed, background more faded and light) to these animal sketches as a stylistic choice. it's indeed different from how I usually convey forms. i think i just felt like it would make these sketches more interesting if i did that. i'm not really sure how i decide that, i guess it's just based on what i feel like drawing during a specific session!

Hi Loish! thank you for this beautiful session. Now I have a question because I am very confused about a specific concept that you mentioned in this video. Here you said that you followed the rule of things that are closer tend to be darker and things that are in the background lighter. But in another video (the tutorial on overlapping shapes where you draw a cat also - from behind) you say that following the logic of a frontal lighting, things are light in the foreground and get darker the more go into the depth. So basically you’re doing exactly the contrary. I know now that in art nothing is really set in stones, but still, can you help me here conceal these two opposite approaches? How do you chose between these two opposite ways?
