I didn’t manage to answer all of the questions in this session because there were so many, so I’ll probably do two sessions next month to catch up. For now, I hope you enjoy this session!

hey michael! I do sometimes import my traditional sketches into digital media, it's one of my favorite ways to work actually! I feel like it combines the best of both worlds. here's a reel in which i use this technique: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DAEUGtZuT7g/ I've definitely stumbled upon Steve's work through the explore page a few times, but I definitely clock it as AI every time! because of that, I lose interest. I think I'm just checking out of AI generated stuff until there's some more clarity on the legality of the copyright concerns. Right now I feel like it's operating too much in a gray area.

i haven't! we were planning on doing it this year but didn't get the time. maybe next time! pasadena is indeed lovely and feels pretty chill compared to other areas of LA!

lol! You were talking about LA. Travel anxiety!! Yup/me too. Southern CA freeways! Flying & airports! Pasadena being outside of central LA is nice. Have you visited the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena?

Just noted your comment about referencing AI…..yes, some mixed feelings over all. Steve also emphasizes paying attention to ethical concerns.

Maybe you already do this, but do you ever import your traditional sketches (mechanical pencil/graphite pencil/or even charcoal sketches or drawings) into Procreate or into your Wacom and rework or fine-tune them digitally? Also, have you seen the work of Steve McDonald on Instagram? He has a traditional art background but with all the ‘new’ tools (both digital and now AI options) he combines many of these ‘tools’ along with his own traditional elements to create his own ( distinctive ) work. I think he did a lot of line drawings in his career (along with landscape photography)and it’s my understanding that he incorporates his own drawings & photography into digital applications……and AI tools. I apologize for the long belated post!🙄 Perhaps you could let me know what you think of Steve’s work (?). Thank you💙

I'll put it on my to-do list to look into it! I think I need to discuss it with my publisher first since I released it with them, but I'm sure they'll be fine with it :)

Thank you for answering my question! I definitely agree that spending too much time on my drawings is one of the problems with over-blending, so I'll definitely try and practice shorter sessions! 💜

I actually would like to have a day in the month in which we all draw bad art and share it to each other or a channel on dc. Also I would like the monthly challenge to create traditional art.
