EARLY ACCESS // value studies
🕑 Added 2024-06-28 09:00:03 +0000 UTCThis month’s challenge for flame members was on making value studies! It was all about understanding how to capture lighting and the interaction between the shadows and highlights. My artwork is always so much about contours and shapes, so these studies were a totally different mindset for me. It was so interesting to do!
Flame members also get the full process videos, plus a resource that talks you through my process and explains my creative choices in making these studies. It also discusses common mistakes and gives some tips! Those will be posted in a minute.

Beautiful! I really love the main image you chose here: The sharpness of the eyelash shadows against the softness of the rest of the image...the amazing way you (always) capture the hair...the whole image has this wonderful glow that feels like the warm sun coming through a cozy window. (Even in Black and white!) Very inspiring. Love it.
