UPDATE // Hi, July!
🕑 Added 2024-06-30 08:29:42 +0000 UTCCan you believe it's already the last day of June? We're deep into summer already! Here's a little overview of how this month has been for me:
AI ANXIETY
There’s been so much anxiety and frustration in the art community surrounding AI. That’s been going on for years but seems to intensify more and more over time! I’ve also made a statement about my feelings on AI in the past and I’m firmly against the way that our copyrighted work is used without our consent to train these models. But I also often feel at my limit emotionally when reading and hearing about it. It’s just really draining and disheartening. I really hope that the many lawsuits fighting to protect the copyright of creators will bring a positive outcome, and in the meantime I’ve been experimenting with Glaze and joining artist-friendly communities like Cara. I really enjoyed creating this month’s tutorial, which was about how art is a messy process and that this creates its charm and appeal. That’s one way that I try to bring a positive twist to this chaotic time for the art community - to focus on the added value of human-made art and to continue supporting it!
VACATION
I spent the second half of this month on vacation in France! I’m in the Savoie region, near the Vanoise park. I’m still there as I am typing this! Maybe some of you have been following my instagram stories about it - if not, check them out here! I love the mountains and get a lot of inspiration being in nature. Don’t be surprised if you see me posting some mountain studies in the coming weeks 👀

sounds like taking a break did a lot of good for you! It's important to get away from the craziness for a bit and re-assess what we get out of these things. these platforms take more then they give nowadays for a lot of artists. wishing you the best of luck in figuring out the healthiest way to move forward!

I've been experiencing so much anxiety this last two months because of AI. The recent news involving Meta and Adobe were too much for me and I've taken a step back from social media for now. I inmediately gained some mental health. I've also realized how addicted I've been to Instagram in a way that maybe I've been posting to feed that rather than because I wanted to? I'm trying to figure out how to continue sharing my illustrations in a way that's safe and healthy 🙏✨
