EARLY ACCESS // reflection

I was thinking about previous drawings that I made that showed a negative or ambivalent relationship with one’s reflection (like this one or this one), and I wanted to create a new take on that idea: something that showed compassion and connection between two versions of a person.
I don’t often show intense emotions or multiple figures in my art, so this one was very challenging. However, I also really enjoyed it in a way because the process was so driven by this idea - usually I am much less committed to a concept during my painting process. Either way I think it was really interesting practice! Hope you like this one!

I've got a ton of catching up to do (and tons of hearts to drop!), but I just wanted to say how much I loved this piece when it appeared in my inbox. There's something so true that hits home. Maybe it's the emotional aspect of it, maybe it's the personal connection I'm inevitably making but, Lois, I can't tell you how much I love this piece. "Growth" was incredible and hands-down one of my faves! If the inner critic is what I'm constantly dealing with, this is the exact opposite. The inner calm and inner supporter, visualized. Thank you for creating this. Your art has always struck a cord with me. But this is just too close to the heart. And it's bringing out all the feels. <3
