EARLY ACCESS // water studies
🕑 Added 2024-07-30 09:00:03 +0000 UTCThis month’s challenge for flame members was on studying water surfaces! Exercises like these are always a great way to discover new techniques, since it's challenging to draw such a dynamic surface with so much fine detail. I decided to do some studies of water splashes, as well as a speedpaint of a summery watery scene! I found these very refreshing to do - especially with these warm temperatures!
Flame members also get the full process videos, plus a resource that talks you through my process and explains my creative choices in making these studies. It also discusses common mistakes and gives some tips! Those will be posted in a minute.
If you want to participate next month, I’ll be posting next month’s challenge on the 1st ~ just like last month’s challenge, it will include:
Tips and suggestions
Reference images
Inspiration images
A list of resources to help you complete the challenge
A bonus challenge for those who want to invest more time
If you want to participate and you’re not yet a flame member, be sure to upgrade your membership to get access to the challenge! New challenges get posted on the 1st of every month. For now, I hope you like these studies✨

thanks so much! and yes water is so hard, so much specific type of detail that is hard to paint. but it pays off to study it!
Loish

Hello loish I want to tell you that I love your artwork and admire your work. Letting you know that I love about water and ocean. See when you draw something like that it makes me happy. Well, I'm a beach person so that's why I think I love the ocean
