Heaven and Hell Chapter 2 Pt. 59 low DoF
🕑 Added 2020-02-01 07:00:02 +0000 UTCHey everyone. This is just a small alternative Version of Ch. 2 Part 59 of my Heaven and Hell series.
I wanted to create a version with a much lower depth of field (DoF). This means that everything that is not in focus will be much more blurry. I always struggle with picking the DoF that feels right for a picture.
I think a lower DoF like in this picture, gives you a better sense of scale as big objects are often blurry in real life photography when you are focusing on something small :) But of course you will loose some sharpness in the background and see less details.
I wanted to ask you what you prefer? Just tell me in the comments! That could make future decisions easier ^^

I think the low DoF does give a better sense of scale. But I like how you did a few different versions. It can be nice to see other aspects of the scene clearly too.

It mainly depends on the complexcity like you mentioned. The scenes in the bathroom right now take about 15-20 hours to render. I usually render in 2K or higher. They take so long because I use HD skin shaders with more details and also render with a high sud-division level of the models to smoothen them out as much as possibe. Also the hair I use has a lot of polygons and is really thin and detailed. Putting this all together with 2-3 light sources (and walls reflecting everything) really pumps up the render time. I think my old laptop would take at least 50h to redner this xD

Trying new settings? Why not! But honestly,... i'm gonna like it anyway xD
Also, I have a question about rendering via Daz. How long does a typical scene take to render? What kind of render settings would you recommend using? I use an HP Pavillion Laptop and my renders can take up to two hours most of the time it renders. It likes to render in thirty minutes if I have very minimal scenes.
Both images look fantastic and crisp either way. This one is much more preferable than the last one you published. However, I not so sure if this scene called for it, I personally would have rather this effect be on render 58 and render 60. For instance; make the one in 58 much more blurred so you can see the finer details of the scene and his struggles, and in 60 I suggest making the girl's face come more into focus than the tiny guy. Just my thoughts.
